Nothing can really top my last post, but I've been thinking a lot about motherhood lately.

As mothers we not only DO so much, we HOLD so much for our children. We become so attuned to their needs, their struggles and emotional ups and downs.

Of course we can't fix everything for them, and it's not our job to protect them from every hardship and pain in the world, even if we might want to.

Mothering is complex and unending. It's a beautiful self-giving love. And I also wonder, if I'm being honest, how I hold onto or reclaim my own identity. But can we ever untangle ourselves from what what we love so deeply and what has shaped us so profoundly?

A large part of what motivates me to photograph families the way I do- as honestly and authentically as possible- is because I love mothers! I love the work they do in the world, which has an impact for generations, and I want them to feel seen and to know that someone bears witness to the love, the tears, all of it.

I’m not saying my kids are more awesome than you

I’m not saying my kids are more awesome than yours, but, I mean…. The video sort of speaks for itself. 😂

Over 22 years of parenting have culminated in this moment. And I have to say it’s all been with it for this- the best Mother’s Day present ever. Sound up!

My favorite part of spring might be the petal drop

My favorite part of spring might be the petal drop. Extravagance all around, being wooed by a Lover casting a pink carpet at our feet.
