With some families, you can just sense that love is the pulse beneath the surface of everything. I got to spend the morning with the Wells family capturing a little piece of their life and love together and I felt that pulse. We started at the Vashon Island Coffee Roasterie, one of my favorite spots on the island. Their two sweet babes- Anouk and Finn- are curious and full of life. When I ferried over to the island the rain was drizzling pretty steadily. Perfect weather to drink a warm cuppa in a coffee shop, but not such gret weather to make pictures out in the woods. I prayed for a miracle- just a few minutes of sunbreak- and I got it.
Taking pictures of this family in the woods, in this particular woods, was like having an in-home session. Paige brings the kids outside to play everyday, rain or shine. They know the nurse logs where slamanders live, the big puddles, the trees and branches. It feels like home to these littles. You can see it in how Finn holds his found creatures and how Anouk splashes freely in the puddle, not minding one bit that her dress is soaking. Paige and Adam are in awe of creation and love the world that God has made. I was inspired and refreshed by how they are passing that love on to their children and showing them the wonder of “The King’s Forest”.
Here are some thoughts from Paige about what she wanted to remember about this season in life: “I want to remember BEING WITH each other. We are certainly quality time folks and are addicted to being with each other. We are best friends. I want to remember being in nature together, enjoying God’s handiwork. I want to remember laughing and wrestling and the kids saying their silly things. I want to remember how my children looked when they cried and got mad. I want to remember what it was like to nurse Anouk and feel her body skin to skin to mine. ”
All worthy things to remember. Thank you, Paige and Adam, for letting me help you remember these things. Your life is rich and beautiful and full of faith-fueled adventure. I’m excited to watch as the next chapter in the story unfolds.
I love these photos and of course, I love this amazing family! Jessica did a wonderful job!
