Believe me when I say, the cobbler’s children have no shoes. I have thousands of images on a hard drive. Thousands of moments of my children’s lives that I treasure dearly. Choosing wall art is tricky and not always at the top of our priority list. To be fair, we do have lots of prints and canvases in our house. I have a 2’x3′ canvas and a bunch of framed prints in our living room. I love that our kids will cherish these images long after they leave home. I try to design a photo album every year or so. Our kids love to pull out those albums and look back on when they were little. Of course, they are what I would grab in a fire. (That and my camera, right?) I read once in some high-end nest mag that it’s gauche to hang personal pictures in a public space of your home, that they are better suited for “private” areas. I wholeheartedly disagree. The pictures I choose to print and hang are a part of our daily landscape as a family. In fact, the largest canvas I have is not necessarily the best picture of my husband, but it’s the one my third kid is smiling in. He had a couple rough years transitioning to not being the baby anymore. I really want him to see that picture and remember positive feelings about growing up. I want to remember that he was loved, that he laughed, that we had fun even though family life isn’t always easy.
These prints and albums are a part of our family history, a legacy of memories I can pass on to my children and someday to their children. They matter.
All that to say that I get it. I get that taking the time to decide what to print, how big, where to hang everything isn’t always at the top of the to-do list. We are busy people juggling households and jobs and school and sports (sometimes our own and theirs!) and too often those pictures that you invested time and money into die on a hard drive.
And that is why I am so excited to be able to offer this new service to my clients. You see, the real value isn’t in having a digital file of zeroes and ones that you can maybe someday get around to printing (though you get those too). The real value is in having me walk you through different wall gallery options and being able to show you exactly what your pictures look like on the wall. I can even show you what they will look like on YOUR wall! How cool is that?
Here are just a few sample galleries I’ve created from some recent sessions. The best thing is I’m offering a new product to make life even easier for you, my dear clients: Every wall gallery is not only customizable to best showcase your images, but is available as standout prints, mounted and ready to hang. Standout prints are a clean and modern way to display pictures, and I’m offering them with a black or maple edge. When you come in for your viewing and ordering session I have some lovely samples you can check out in-person. Best thing about them- you don’t need to make any decisions or spend any more money on framing your images. One stop-shopping. Boom. Done.
Of course I will still continue to offer prints for framing as well as high-quality gallery wrapped canvases. In the next month I’m hoping to finalize some framing options for you as well. I really believe in being a full-service photographer. Handing you a disc and saying “go figure it out!” doesn’t do anyone any good and the more decisions I can help take off your plate, the better.
So, what do you think about these galleries? Which one is your favorite? By the way, for past clients who have already placed an order I am offering a 15% discount on any wall gallery through the end of April. I would be happy to show you a few sample galleries of some of your favorite images, just drop me a note and let me know you’d like me to design something for you. I will even walk you through how to take a picture of your wall so I can use it as the background.
