To think that this miracle happens all over the world, every minute, is astoundingly, breathtakingly beautiful. To be a part of this gorgeous mama’s birth was a gift. To witness her strength and fierceness, her power and vulnerability, the partnership and tenderness she shared with her husband somehow restored hope in me. How can one be cynical about the world when it is full of such wonder and everyday miracles?
Judah David came quickly into the world. If I had arrived 5 minutes later I would have missed him slipping from one warm, watery world into the next. He was so calm and quiet, his body perfectly content encircled by his parents, held up by the water.
His mama has had a lot of practice- he was the 5th baby she brought from her body into this family, the 7th overall. So many loving arms surrounded him. My favorite moment was when all 7 kids were on the bed together and I was able to get the whole family in one frame (I worked hard for that frame!). The love and care between the siblings is palpable.
Jess and Nick- I’m so thrilled for you and love your excitement at getting to do this again! Your thankfulness and praise to the Giver of Life was woven into every breath of that morning.
Blessings over all of you. Thank you for inviting me in.
